Windows XP Starter Edition for India launched in Tamil

Yes. Finally windows has launched its "Windows XP starter edition for India" in Tamil on last Friday (June 16, 2006).

Mr. Rishi Srivastava, Director, Windows Client Business Group, Microsoft India has launched it in Chennai. He said it includes Tamil-English language interface, Anti-virus, and Education Content (meant for students of Class 6 to 12) in the package.

A year ago, Hindi version of same has released. Now, its Tamil time.

Using this Windows XP starter edition for India in Tamil, any tamil only knowing person can operate his computer and make his office document, can browse in the internet explorer and can search his files in Tamil way.

In this project, Microsoft will be Operating System partner, where as HCL and Sahara will be the Hardware partners. Also Edurite is going to give Education content and QuickHeal is going to provide Anti-Virus assistance.

Initially this product will be available in 10 cities and towns which includes Trichy, Covai, Madurai, Salem, Tuticorin, Karur and Pattukottai other than Chennai and Pondy.

This product will be available in the market for the price of Rs.13,999/- in the market. They are also providing installment scheme in this...
