Skype WiFi phones comes to India

Welcome, one more historic change happened in Telecom industry!

Technology provider SMC Networks has announced the availability of a PC independent VoIP device in India, that uses the popular Skype software for making high quality, free or low-cost calling options, the SMCWSKP100 Skype Wi-Fi phone.
This move allows free calls to Skype users around the world and enables calling to ordinary landline phones and mobile phones using SkypeOut at a very very low cost. This product is going to available on market by end of Q3 2006. They are intimating that this phone will be cost around $400. (Approximtely Rs.18,000/-)
Though it looks like a higher cost, when you are going to make a large number of calls, it will reduce your usage cost. It will be an advantage of businessmen who are using telecom for their communication.
In this situation, it is going to be an interesting to see what other telecom partners are going to do with their cost per call. But onething is sure. If technology gives competition, the end users will get benefit for sure.
Am waiting to see the domestic telecom sector's next move in this situation. Won't you?
Please let me know your point of view in this announcement...
:)
