Zune: Will be a competitor for Apple's iPod?

Zune, Microsoft product for Music lovers

Last friday (Jul.21, 2006), MS announced that it is going to release the product called "Zune" for the music lovers. It is expecting to competite with Apple Computer Inc's "iPod".

"Under the Zune brand, we will deliver a family of hardware and software products, the first of which will be available this year," said Chris Stephenson, general manager of market for entertainment and services at Microsoft, in an statement. "We see a great opportunity to bring together technology and community to allow consumers to explore and discover music together."

Already, iPod occupied 70% of digital musical world. But it is true that in India, it is yet to get popular. Hence, it is going to be a treat for digital music lovers (specially from India) to have a competitor from a world's software leader.

I already received a comment from one of the digital music lover that, this Zune product is new to the market and if it is not a price concern, its an oneway.

Anyhow, as a digital music lover, am ready to watch the competition between these tow products, one already proven winner of digital music and other from a world leader of software industry. Get ready for the show...
